Williams’ gas pipelines transport around 12 percent of the US daily supply of natural gas which equates to approximately 30 million homes. Williams operates 3 natural gas pipelines, encompassing around 15,000 miles as a whole. The proposed construction of a pipeline in Pennsylvania required that a detailed environmental assessment of the proposed site be completed before pipeline construction could begin. EGIS performed environmental services over a distance of 250 miles of pipeline project alignment in the Marcellus Shell play as required by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
The USACE and Pennsylvania DEP have strict requirements for mapping, assessments, and permitting prior to construction. Familiar with these requirements, EGIS worked to identify streams, wetlands, endangered species and habitats within the proposed area of development and utilized state-of-the-art technologies, such as GPS and GIS integrating accurate mapping of the streams, wetlands, species and habitats with the engineering consultant.
EGIS performed technical work in relation to reporting, delineation and mapping of specific species and habitats as required. EGIS provided accurate reporting, which complied with regulatory requirements.
