Beaver Lake Water Quality

Business Challenge:

Beaver Lake is a human-made reservoir located in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas. A popular tourist attraction and the pride of local residents, Beaver Lake has approximately 487 miles of natural shoreline complete with limestone bluffs, natural caves, trees and shrubs. With dozens of recreational parks and facilities around the lake, Beaver Lake experiences around 3.1 million visitors each year who enjoy camping, hiking, boating, swimming, picnicking and other activities.

A baseline study of the water quality of Beaver Lake needed to be conducted to determine what chemicals were present in the water as well as a determination of the water quality as Beaver Lake is home to 5 lake stations and 12 streams.

EGIS’s Response to its Client’s Needs:

As stream flow monitoring and water quality monitoring were the two most important services provided, EGIS utilized state of the art technologies to collect samples and monitor the water quality of Beaver Lake. The work performed by EGIS was handled with the highest level of integrity and was vital to the future sustainability of Beaver Lake. EGIS performed water quality services for 4 years,  monitoring the stream flow of 12 streams while providing flood water monitoring, sampling of water and stream surveys.

As a result of the high quality work performed by EGIS, numerous opportunities for other projects in the area arose.
